Background
 

Attorney Cohen has more than three decades of experience as a management-side employment attorney in Connecticut, as a counselor to corporate leadership and human resource departments, and as a litigator in courts and agencies. He provides experienced representation to businesses -- from small to large, both non-profit and for-profit -- in labor and employment matters. For more than 30 years, Attorney Cohen has counseled Connecticut businesses in every aspect of employment law and represented them in defense of employment claims, lawsuits, and government investigations.

Attorney Cohen has successfully defended businesses and business owners in state and federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels, and before state and federal agencies such as the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the federal and state Departments of Labor. He has successfully represented businesses in labor arbitrations on a wide range of subjects, from whether “just cause” supported an employee’s termination to the interaction of workplace policies, collective bargaining agreements, and employment statutes.

Attorney Cohen's clients include medical practices and other healthcare companies; social service agencies and nonprofits; manufacturers, retailers, and wholesalers; media companies; other closely held businesses; and individuals.

Attorney Cohen is a magna cum laude graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center. He moved to Connecticut in 1990 after serving as a law clerk for a federal judge in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and working in the litigation department of a major national firm. He has served as a “special master” in employment cases for the U.S. District Court in Connecticut. He also has served on the boards of directors of several local non-profit agencies.
